Day 20 – Friends

Sitting at dinner tonight, I looked across the table at our friends, and thought how lucky we were. We met them through our son and their son almost 25 years ago. The boys, men now, have gone their separate ways but we remain close. What I have found is that true friendship doesn’t mean seeing each other often, or even talking often, but more about truly caring about one another. It’s a special friendship in that we are friends as couples and also individually, as our husbands are friends and we are too. Getting together is rare, in fact I can’t remember the last time. It was a good night of catching up, sharing our kids latest, talking about retirement, even politics, I didn’t want it to end and my husband had to nudge to me to signal it was time. Nice night, wonderful friends and the dinner was good too!
